chaumont

built as a fortress by Charles d'Amboise during the reign of LouisX11, it was acquired by Catherine de Medici the wife of Henri 11. After Henri's death, his mistress Diane de Poitiers was banished to here by Catherine.Rebuilt in 1465 after a fire burned the original,finished in the 16th century.
